>>1195700A professor I had / my advisor is the local expert I couple of endangered species that he works with and helps make survey guidelines for with the CDFW. I got an internship doing BNLL surveys in the summer, that entailed some extra work with other protected species in the area. About a month before I graduated I started a position monitoring construction sites for protected species, mostly condors. I still applied places cause monitoring is basically watching people work and boring as fuck. Got on to a salaried position locally with a small bio firm. We do surveys for protected plants and animals, write reports for clients who are doing projects, maintain a couple populations of T&E plans, and monitor sites. I get outside most days and while it's not always amazing I love going to work every day.
Pic related is what we've been trapping recently, an antelope squirrel with some grasses she kept grabbing and shoving in her burrow to make a nest/bedding.
