On the Alps I use the same socks for any season, that's determined by how much room I have to fill in the boot. Obviously thicker socks are also warmer.
Lined boots are used in extreme cold or by hunters, they're useless for hiking. Else padded "tent shoes" exist. You don't need an extra pair of boots in normal alpine hiking.
Forget about snow and ice trips as a beginner.
