>>1758447>>1758398i grew cubes, would love to do gourmet. a full boil is sufficient and, arguably, overkill. but introduce spawn as soon as cooled and you'll be golden. the headstart is the most important factor here (compared to effects of true sterilization) since you must allow the spawn to re-colonize regardless. what formula are you going to bake up for the sub? im curious
i would spawn sterile grain to boiling water + coco coir after it cooled. some people steam sterilize large amounts of sub in 55 gal drums. whatever works best on a volume basis because in reality there's a small chance youre actually spawning in a sterile environment so the best you can do is reset close to 80-100% of the medium. i would honestly be more worried about the mulch size here.
now, for the advanced material:
even if you have a martha tent/grow chamber and take care of the intake, i've had trich resembling spores germinate within (what was perceived as a quality grade cake) and grow inside-out, for me to catch its dark arse berthing beneath the top layer of mycelium (already nearing its 1st flush). it is not economical to worry about it, only to act swiftly when a dud is eventually spotted since this phenomena is technically not avoidable on a /hgm/ scope.
