Just got back from my third fishing experience in 20 years, and I caught 2 bass today!
First one was a little guy but he got gut hooked so I kept him, then reeled in a HUGE catfish that had to have been at least 30 inches. Then caught the second bass, he weighed in at 3 lbs and 16.5 inches.
Caught them in the St. Louis river and there is a fish advisory, but I still filleted them. Not sure if I'm gonna eat them though.
Gear: 6 ft berkeley lightning rod, abu garcia cardinal, 6 lb test, smallest hook I had (idk what size it is, but I think it's a 4?), sinker, and slip bob.
