>>1375555this, why is canyonlands so much better than arches national parkinglot?
>go to Utah for work conference>manage to sneak a couple days off to see the desert>can only do one overnighter>settle on canyonlands since arches permits have been booked full for months>arrive in the late afternoon, rush to descend before sunset>visitor center has like 3 cars parked in front of it>see only 1 group of people on their way back up>spend dusk hiking all alone in the canyon, no signs of anyone else>only the stars, moon, and quiet desert wind>next morning, pack up and head back up>drive around the island in the sky, see the overlooks, a few cars here and there but it's not too bad>decide to hit up arches before I drive back to catch a plane from SLC the next morning because I've read online it's a must-seeOh boy, arches national parkinglot was underwhelming after seeing canyonlands
>15 minute line up to enter the park>get stuck behind a train minivans, and campervans>every 500 yards some boomer or instagram thot slows down to pull over to curbside overlook>hit up delicate arch trail, thankfully there's space because there's a walmart-sized parking lot>passed at least 200 people on the 20 minute walk up, there another group of 50 people at arch>pajeets and chinks waving selfie sticks, boomers waving tripods, instagram thots posing for selfies everywhere>leave to see the windows>fuck it's even worse, just as many cars as last time but this time the parking lot is half the size>decide fuck arches, and leave so I don't miss the sunset stuck in a parking lotI ended up going back to canyonlands to watch the sunset after spending less than 3 hours in arches. Not worth the hype at all. And this was in late september, past peak season for arches.
Canyonlands is god tier, this anon is right
>>1375163, i'm glad Edward Abbey managed to stop them from pozzing it like they did to Arches
>pic related, not a soul in sight in Canyonlands
