NOW THAT YOU'VE BROUGHT IT UP I have to say it annoys me how many people don't care or appreciate the incredible accomplishment our Mars rovers actually are. The virtual tour of Mars you can do based on their photos is mind bendingly good, and beautiful. I fucking love the stunning work of NASA and I can't believe how hard such a simple message it is to get across to people how significant a knife's edge this stuff is in context of human history and exploration. Almost NONE of my friends even know about the Webb space telescope or care ffs. And also this is as /out/ as it gets imho.
Fucking amazing. Pic is me at 3.5yrs old just before watching Space Shuttle Discovery launch and I remember every detail of that day still. I can't wait until I have a chance to see her up close myself in the Smithsonian hangar in Virginia.
