I have two sets of clothes for my outdoor related activities. One cost me almost 900$ and is just great all year round, the other is milsurp from the 90s, which didn't even cost me 1/10 and is also just great (excluding boots) for my, and let's face it, your needs. I wouldn't climb Everest with either of these sets of clothes simply because neither is made for it. If the military saw any critical advantage sending people to climb Everest, I'm sure there would be gear made available for the task. Years later, that gear might be up for sale, and hey presto, milsurp for your precious Everest!
