I went with a group of random "spiritual" moms and hipsters once and they all took it so easy like really trying not to sweat or get dirty. They stopped at the first bar they found on the way and brought 0 useful gear. I had to share my mess kit and food to prepare "community" meal since only like 3 people including me out of a group of 30 had proper gear for the "spiritual pilgrimage" they planned.
