>>2468244I don't know if you're already in the shovelthread or not, but I'd recommend you the Havamal if you have a significant number of Germanic ancestors. And, IMO, don't think of the Æsir and Vanir and so on as deities in the way the Abrahamics think of Yahweh. I don't think they are individual identities with personal opinions, but rather represent forces within you and in nature. Thor is the lifeforce, Mjølnir the heartbeat, Odin is the reincarnating spirit, Hugin and Munin are the mind and the memory, Sleipnir is death/funeral, Freyr is the sperm, Vidar is the forest, and so on. The myths are sometimes about esoteric things like reincarnation, and sometimes about prehistoric events like the Indo-Europeans (Æsir) conquering the Paleo-Europeans (Vanir). I recommend reading Dr. Jackson Crawford's translations and Varg Vikernes' interpretations (if you can stomach his poor writing skills) of the old myths. There's a Norwegian MMA guy's channel youtube, aptly named Norse Magic and Beliefs, that is well worth paying attention to as well.
