Beadell was probably the last true explorer outside the poles. He opened up over 2.5 million square kilometres of Australian bush form the 1940's through 60's. He also had a hand in some A-bomb testing.
The best thing is he is really likeable. You read his books and he comes across as funny, smart, interesting, an all round top bloke.
