>>2395784I got a pretty cheap one by Lucky Laker, but it's worked well for me. It's definitely not the most advanced thing in the world, but it works well without needing a full 12v battery. You can get it wireless as well, but I went with the wires style and have it trailing just behind me when I fish. It shows water temp as well, which has been a game changer for me. Lots of settings, but it's certainly not going to outdo high end stuff like Lowrance. I don't have that kind of budget. I use it more for mapping out areas for potential hot spots. The only downside is that the module itself isn't water proof, which is moronic, but easily remedied with a small roll up dry case. I'm about to crash for the evening, but I will get a pic of what I mean. Here's the model I got. I started with an even cheaper one, and even though it's way worse, the damn thing marks fish correctly. It's why I trusted getting an upgrade. I use the cheap one still if I am loaning out a kayak to a friend, so they at least have something. Now that I have talked it up, it'll break. I have had the cheap one for 3 years, and the not so cheap one for just over a year, so fingers crossed they last. Both have gotten wet at one point or another, but I just power them down until they dry out and they're fine. The company seems to have built in fail-safes, which I appreciate. Instead of frying, if something isn't right, it won't turn on at all.
