>>2022594Thanks for the breakdown, I'm not a baitcaster though I'm not opposed to learning, it just seems to be something guys with boats do more often and I'm strictly a wading/shore fisherman. 95% of my fishing is done from the middle of the river and very rarely am I casting into cover that I can't retrieve, my only x-factor is overhead foliage.
I like an open faced reel with 10 lb mono and an fast light action rod. My only concern is that the rod needs to be stiff enough to cast a Tokyo rig or Wopper Plopper. I had some incredible blowups last year on it, one of those days where you catch so many big fish it starts to feel gratuitous.
My dad died this past October, he lived near the Madison County, VA. There are some rivers around there that are just incredible, Bass fishing in pristine and untouched pools filled to the brim with monsters.
I went out fishing for a few hours a day and then spent the rest of the time taking care of him. It was a tough month, those days on the water really kept me grounded in a sad time. I broke my personal best again and again.
