Trying to get one of our four hens to go broody and no one is going for it! Any tips?
Would really like a batch of chicks to end up with a few more layers and restock the freezer with roosters. We moved them to new coop (new house) a few weeks ago. They started laying in the nest boxes then switched to this corner of the coop. I’ve been leaving eggs and added a couple extra from the store.
Two years ago we had a hen go broody when I got busy and let the eggs pile up. Nothing since. We have one Americana, one Americana mutt, and two black Australorp mutts. I’ve heard banty hens are good for going broody but don’t have a good source for growing our flock right now, the local animal swap has been shut down.
