>>1987420I'm in a similar boat to this anon. I will finish my AAS in Geology after this semester is concluded. (No I'm not a baby, I just finished my stint in the Army and am now finishing the degree that I started while I was still active duty). I will be either A: Transferring to a big state school that has a good Geosciences college or B: Begin working with my associates in Geology. It seems from what I've seen that Geology is a very broad subject that allows for specialization into a specific job field. My question for yall is should I get my bachelors in Geology or a different Geoscience? Additionally, I've already had to take some higher-level (?) math classes like Calculus 2, it shouldn't be much harder to major in an engineering major then? An engineering major from this big state school is much more prestigious as they are known for their engineering college.
My choices are: (for college of Geosciences bachelors)
Environmental Geosciences
Environmental Studies
Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIST)
Geography
Geology
Geophysics
Meteorology
Oceanography
Or: (for college of engineering)
Aerospace Engineering
Biological and Agricultural Engineering
Ocean Engineering
Petroleum Engineering
Materials Science and Engineering
(hand picked various ones that are more interesting or applicable to me)
I know that an engineering major will lead into a different pipeline traditionally than a geosciences major will, however, there will also be more money in this field.
