>>2158313They got to grow up and experience the last of free life in the late 70s and the 80s. From the early 90s is when everything started slowly going to shit.
They see millenials and zoomers addicted to escapism via smart phones and the internet while Gen X misses the old days of doing cheap drugs freely, having no /out/ laws and hell, not even having to wear a seatbelt and doing whatever they wanted without anyone around to tell them what to do.
Exhausted from this awful existence, they try to put up with their shitty middle-management position where boomers yell at them all day for having it "so easy" while Karens yell at them for not putting overweight white women first.
In the back of the Gen X'rs mind, all they want is to jump into a Sandman again and drive on the beach high on LSD with no seatbelts on, drinking in public and maybe do a bit of skatebording before Countdown comes on free-to-air TV.
tl;dr they were the last totally free and happy generation stuck between 2 awful ones and now they're stuck in their mid-40s early-50s living in this awful dystopian fucking future where everything is "RULES. OBEY".
