>>327112Check out Grasmere and Helm Crag, the peak is known as The Lion and Lamb (although I don't see the resemblance). It's steep, but a very short walk up. It's summit is only 405m high. Quite easy, I took my dad up it the other weekend. You can make it a little more challenging by heading all the way around to Steel Fell and turning it into a loop back to Grasmere.
This is a good resource (in general for walks):
http://www.walkingenglishman.com/lakes28.htmWe did a route quite similar to that. Great views, but a little boggy between Calf Crag and Steel Fell. Pic related, cheeky snap of some nutter who climbed to the true summit while we were lazily eating our sandwiches.
I did Scafell Pike a few years back. Shitty weather, walking in a cloud all day, then fell over on the summit and hit my knee on a rock. Fucker was swollen to the size of a tennis ball in minutes. The route we took back down had these downward sloping slick stone steps a good chunk of the way. My legs were shaking like a shitting dog by the time we got back to the car and I could barely walk for a couple of days afterwards. Despite that shitty experience I want to do it again this year.
If you've never been to the lakes you might have fun visiting some of the towns too. Windermere is very yuppified now, but you could rent a little boat and head out onto the lake for a few hours. Kendal is nice to visit too, although a bit further out (just off the m6).
