>>171496Yeah, you can. It is just grass. I'd recommend a PVC tower for grain. When you plant grains normally on flat ground, wheat is like 1 loaf of bread per 10 square feet. A PVC tower takes up the least amount of space and you can have tons of them.

However, $290 is a ridiculous price. I think it took me 3-4 hours and $30-$40USD in supplies and tool cost to make it.
Here's a current pic of mine. I've only planted the bottom 2 rows with endive. That is the only place with soil. The rest of the barrel is filled with animal stall manure, dirt, and alternating layers of semi-aged grass clippings. I feel that stuff is still a bit too hot to grow anything in. It'll be fully planted next year though. I'd liked to have more sand in the upper mix, but didn't get around to doing that.
