my parents have a home in borrego springs, ca. It gets hot there in the summer. When visiting we usually drive out to glamis and ride atv's all day, hit ocotillo wells and camp out near the hot springs at night. Pretty comfy camping at the hot springs in the middle of the desert looking at the stars. The shear solitude of desert camping is the best. nothing but you and the wind.
driving over to the salton sea and getting drunk with the locals at the bar is also entertaining
