Long time catfisher here. I recently moved to the beach and was wanting to get into some inshore fishing, speficially flounder fishing, but pretty much want to have fun catching whatever. I bought a setup last weekend and was wondering if I did good. I had no idea what I'm getting myself into.
I got a Penn Battalion Inshore for $100. It's 7' medium-light extra fast action. I got the Penn Battle II spinning reel to go with it for another $100. I go the 2500 size. I went with flurocarbon line and got 15lb test P-Line Floroclear since it's what was cheapest in the store.
Here's the part I'm posting about. I bought an assortment of different saltwater hardbaits, and I have no idea how to use them. Do you just cast them in and wait like cut bait? Do I need sinkers on the line? I bought different baits that look like minnows, shad, mullet, shrimp, etc. But each one says they're a different bait like popper, trolling, trap, etc. What do these mean?
Also, what type of fish I could I be catching with this gear besides flounder?
