>>2629864I recently lived in my suv in san diego for a couple of months, i was on a trip abroad and when i got back things didn’t go over well with my gf and i had to leave.
The pigs and karens are on a constant lookout for vanlifers in parking lots (where it makes the most sense to contain them but is in fact illegal) so I slept on residential streets, always picking a spot where i could not directly see a window to my right or be seen from a window, ideally on both sides. I avoided other vanlifers or industrial areas as they are nothing but trouble. My back windows are tinted but i would arrive well after dark and leave at daybreak, only returning to the same spot once in a while. I am sure people noticed at times but most of them are understanding there, if you aren’t a piece of shit. I swam in the ocean every day to shower, especially whenever I had taken a shit. This took some willpower on cold days with massive waves. I had a job and the few people i told were amazed to find out i lived in my car. They of course acted extremely uneasy around me from then on which was honestly comical to me. California pussies
The only people I met in similar circumstances that weren’t massive pieces of shit or you could say were “normal” were daddys/tech money individuals living in $50-100K setups. A couple of down on their luck boomers living in trucks too. There are hordes of people in socal living in ratty piece of shit conversion vans or whatever car they have that are fent junkie thieving pieces of shit and people are right to be disgusted by them and wary of them.
I actually tried to get a place in a homeless shelter but they said they were full - come at 7am and wait in line for a few hours and maybe you will get a place for the night. how the fuck am i supposed to do that every day.
I left to the east coast to work as the sales director at a classic car dealership making 100K+, that’s how normal and employable i am, not trying to brag.
