Did a couple months tramping over there last summer, the south island is beautiful as hell. the huts are comfy, best ones are the two bunkers in the middle of nowhere. Also, there are some great huts in the aussie alps that are worth checking out, thinking of heading up there next week and hitting up some ones I have't been to yet.
But yeah, would totally move over to nz if it wasn't so fucking expensive.
