>>270548>brah you have to organise a group to go /out/ with. make sure you go out with like 4+ people at least a few times. Yeah see this is great advice. I've been doing this, but lately I've really only been going camping with my girlfriend and occasionally my sister, which means really the buck stops with me. Most of my male friends are either not interested in /out/ missions, or overly employed like myself. But I will definitely follow this.
>keeping food away from camp, taking percautions against insects etc, know what kind of wildlife is around and what sounds they make, etc.Yeah I do all this and am pretty good with camp discipline, etc. I used to do scouts and as this has sort of become my new hobby I've done extensive reading when I'm bored at work waiting for the weekend. The camp I set up last night was really well organised and kept in such a way that animals would not come to the camp.
My issue is my imagination runs wild, even with my preparation. For example, on Mt Macedon, the local legends tells of some panthers in the area (this is a pretty common one). My sister and big bro have both seen it, supposedly. And of course there's my omnipresent fear of ALIUMSSS.
The Australian fauna isn't really too bad. Roos are pussies, there are no dingos here, and koalas all cop it during the bushfires. It's just the imagination....
