that rock's in the sierras at columns of the giants s.p. off the sonora pass hwy (hwy 108) in california. it's basalt columns that rotated 90 degrees over the last ten million years or so. there are some really hard routes there that are bolted, but those have more normal vertical columns. hexentric is a fantastic cruiser 5.7-a little overhung in parts which is uncommon and cool for the grade.
here's some jumbly granite from further up that road. a lot of rock, but not a lot that's sustained 5th class. got to do plenty of 3rd class exploring, though.
