Only downside is they take a while to dry out if your feet get super sweaty or you fall in a creek, but they also stay dry walking through wet bushes and light rain just fine so it's alright.
I'd like to get some quests or something with higher ankles too, but I'm too cheap to do that yet so I just wear the outwards for everyday work and suffer with my old poorly fitting leather boots when I have to do some real swampass bushnigger shit and actually need the extra support and protection.
