The biggest problem is people take the breeders. They'll keep huge fish that have passing on tons of good genes for 10 years and eat them like nothing. A local pond I go to used to have great bass fishing, big bass. Some white trash came in and started eating the bass and whenever they would get a big (4-8 lbs) bass they'd keep it because apparently big bass, the worst possible tasting freshwater sport fish, at the worst size to eat, from a pond that people used to dump their old refrigerators and batteries into and is full of cancer, taste good to these mentally impaired people. Now all you can catch are tiny dinks. If they took the better tasting small fish, the big bass population would be better off.
