There are bugs, but less than in most of the states i’ve been in. Basically no ticks in my experience. The views are great, hiking in the mountains in summer is great for temperature, but it can be very grey and rainy on the West coast (picrel). There is good /out/ just about everywhere. Sailing is probably the best way to experience it, but biking, camping, hiking, skiing are all very easy and fun - there are very well equipped cabins pretty much everywhere where you can easily get a room along with dinner and breakfast. Picrel, im in one right now. Its on the fancier, more modern end but many are very basic, older wooden cabins, sometimes unmanned. Good hiking is all iver, one of my favorites was a hike across Jotunheimen in early fall, staying at this kind of tourist huts.
