i still recently managed to drive the van for a few hundred kms with a blown head gasket
i just had to open all the windows to evacuate the engine's steam from the passenger compartment and add water to the cooling system
you don't do that with modern engines

i wouldn't go on holiday in a modern rv or even a modified cargo van with my wife and kids
it's just not the same and the fact it's so small is an advantage in my opinion as you can go to some places inaccessible in a recent rv
