Killed my first moose some weeks ago
weapon used was old 6.5x55
Bullet used was 160 grain softpoint/leadpoint/leadtip, whatever they are called in english
Shot in the chest from 80 meters (90 yards), went straight trough.
Story:

>moose went to neighbour-teams land
>radio them to take over
>moose later goes back
>we have changed positions in case this would happen
>hear on the radio that it have crossed the path i used to get to my hunting tower

>20 seconds later hear crash crash crash innawoods
>spot something brown/black running
>lift rifle and set safety to off
>wait
>dog starts barking
>hear that it have stopped about 80m from me
>wait 30sec
>dog still barking
>spot something
>red/orange tag in dogs collar
>look a little to the right, between 20 billion trees
>Spot something that looks like a leg

>yeah thats a leg, cant see anything else
>look to the left
>spot ears
>look at leg again, wait a little
>moose take one step so i can see chest between some trees

>moose run away
>see atvtrail,

my first jam ever, i did not pull the bolt back long enough so it did not eject and tried to feed a new bullet

>spot moose again

>climb down from tower
>hear on radio from dogoperator that dog has stopped (gps)
>go check it out
>moose dead 50m from where i shot at it
>check for car-injury
>broken one front leg
