>>1773115Those bobbers are fine if you only need the hook 2-3 feet below the hook. But say you want to fish in 10 feet of water and want your hook a foot off the bottom. That's at least 9 feet of free line you need to deal with while casting. If you're just dropping it over the side, it's manageable, but if you need to get any distance on your cast, it's pretty awkward. Personally, when I'm using bobbers, I use the foam ice fishing floats. They cheap and a lot easier to take off than a slip bobber if I want to switch to crank baits or jigging.
