i brought a hammock, a thermarest and a good sleeping bag, primus stove, pot, wooden spoon, instant coffee, some socks and underwear, thermals, a couple tshirts, a sweatshirt, a pair of pants, rain gear, knife, vaseline, tin foil, motoroil and tool kit
put it all in a a 50L waterproof duffel/backpack (i wore it on my back but if i did it again i would lash it down.. you don't need a luggage rack just something strong enough to hold on with a couple ratchet straps or bungee cords)
i bought food to cook and beer along the way
