you guys should seriously shop on the facebook marketplace for gear. managed to get a used twice arcteryx bora 80 for $50 and tons of other gear from yuppies who never really used it. Im overall very happy with my gear, I just wish I would have bought the MH 5F lamina instead of the 0F. the 5F compresses to half the size.
>>1146595I personally love my MSR whipser lite. doesn't weigh much, can use either white gas, gasoline, or kerosene (for third/second world mountain trips), can easily balance a big pot or frying pan on it (can cook for 4 no big deal), and you dont have to go through the huge hassle of recycling butane/propane canisters (if it's even possible where you live). it is also very easy to keep track of fuel usage. If you just want to boil water, get a jet boil. I really only bring my jet boil when im trying to go as UL as possible (they suck for cooking in the pot, and god help you if you try to using a pan on one).
