>>542639I watched someone cross a river today and climb a tree which was hanging over some pretty gnarly rapids about 150 feet from a damn just to retrieve a white sp minnow.
not 20 minutes before this he had a sizable striper right at our landing spot on the river rocks, the fish dove and wrapped his line around some rocks, the hog made off with his first white sp minnow.
he looked at me and said "this is why I always buy two"
lures are like cigarettes in some fishing holes. if it's rough fishing, ie rocks, current, trees, overgrowth, everyone's got em, and everyone is passing them around.
just get two of everything, if you keep getting locked up on the bottom of your fishing hole you should get a few crappy jig heads, or hell, tie a small rock to your line, and practice casting and retrieving. When you are at the point where your rock isn't getting snagged, or dragging in plants, swap out for your lure. You have to learn the water and the contours of the bed.
You can also try building rigs like this, it's a great setup for water that is susceptible to constant snagging.
