I don't think it would be easy for any of us to assess fire danger based on just a description of a place, but when in doubt just don't.
As far as embers go you can get a mesh fire pit screen to put over the top which kinda kills the fun but also will stop embers from floating around. Just remember if you start a forest fire it will be your lowest moment perhaps in all your life, so take your precautions seriously.
If the ground is very rocky/sandy and not soily with lots of roots and things you might be safe with a Dakota fire hole, it will help contain embers. But you have make sure you don't start an underground fire by accident. I did that once and 2 days after I'd put my fire out the earth suddenly turned into a black crater because it had been smoldering underground for like 40 hours.
Alternatively consider bringing a cozy oil lantern or similar. In the dark once your eyes adjust it'll illuminate all your surroundings and keep you company while you enjoy the fresh air and quiet. You don't always NEED a fire, and frankly where I live it's become almost always illegal to have one so I've just changed my expectations.
