Anyways, I submit as underrated area most of the Allegheny and Cumberland Plateaus. There's a few tourist hotspots - namely Dolly Sods that will be packed on weekends - but as long as you stay out of the top, most popular hikes, you will have it mostly to yourself, or be with local/regional tourists. Most international tourists stick to Harpers Ferry, Great Smokies, Adirondacks, more established stuff.
There's thousands of acres of public land that's mostly useless for farming due to soil, climate, and elevation.
