They did the job fairly well for the three month trip, which included a pretty hardcore trek, the Northwest Circuit on Stewart Island. The right boot suffered a small amount of peel back at the toe of the boot after this one though.
That said, I didnt take these boots on any major treks after this and when I did visit NZ a second time during winter which was just chilling out around Queenstown, the sole on the left boot deteriorated and was slightly peeling off without being under any stress.
The boots finally died just recently when I went on the Annurpurna trek in Nepal. The upper part of the boot was fine, it was rather the soles that were tearing apart.
Take that into consideration.
You will want waterproof boots.
You will want quite sturdy boots
Make sure your soles are good.
Make sure they are comfy too.
