>How can I help it through the shocks?- stop watering and let the soil dry out until the pot weighs a lot less and/or stick your finger to the second knuckle and no black moist soil sticks to it.
- make sure it doesnt go over 85F, but if it's outside it can handle it but give it a shade cloth or equivalent shade from other plants.
- harden it off to the sun (an hour more direct sun every day or so).
