>>2683361>reduce the CMOS's inherent noiseby this, i mean if you take a photo with the lens cap on, open it in a RAW editor, and max out the exposure/contrast, you can clearly see a defined grain pattern that's intrinsic to the actual sensor that records light to data. this introduces noise into every photo you take, but it can be filtered out to dramatically clarify images without necessarily resorting to generic algorithms like unsharp masking
