Austria
Pros:
>central europe, not a far way to any other place on the continent
>motherfucking alps
>growing up here I pretty much learned how to skii, ice skate, mountain climb, forage mushrooms, fish and other stuff
>mild climate with 4 seasons
>hardly any animals that are dangerous to you (albiet some plants and mushrooms, but only if you go full retard)
>variety of landscapes with mountains in the south-west translating into hills and planes in the north-east
Cons:
>many of our native wildlife and plants are extinct or near extinction after centuries of over-hunting and destroying natural habitats
>no bears, no wolves, hardly any mountain lions anymore
>alps are heavily civilized, its actually quite hard to find remote areas and most mountains are full of cows in the summer
>barely any untouched nature, the only parts exist in national parks that are HEAVILY restricted (no camping, no leaving trails, no taking anything with you, Im amazed they dont ban looking at animals)
>shitloads of tourists, they come to the cities and to hike in the summer and to skii in the winter, when you go hiking you will encounter many ''sneaker-tourists''(my label for them); people who drive up mountain valleys, then go hiking for 2 hours on safe and easy trails, in overblown high-tech gear, and then they leave again
>camping in the wild is generally banned, overall most of your interactions with nature and the outdoors are very regulated
