>Black Diamond Carbon Alpine Trekking PolesFor an actual review on something, I would highly recommend trekking poles. Sounds pretty faggy right? I know... but they are outstandingly useful. I first saw these while living in Switzerland and couldn't get myself to use them for their sheer fagginess of how they look. So so glad I was wrong and bought a pair to give them a try.
The way that you can redistribute your load when hiking across uneven terrain is unbeatable. I'll take this a bit further and recommend you get adjustable poles: this way you can customize the height rather than the one-size-fits-all to non-adjustable poles, and make sure they have handles that are cork. The cork remains grippy while wet, and is light weight.
Every hike since then has involved using these. Protip: use bicycle chainstay guards to protect the lower legs from blunt impacts. Not too sure if anyone does this, but I just thought of it a few days ago. Hope that helps someone.
