If you are in bear country it's not a matter of if you see a bear on your property, it's when. My captain told me that he shot a grizzly 4 times with 338LM , twice in the shoulder, only after tracking it down to the beach did he finally take the 4th shot that killed it WHILE it was charging at him.
Seriously, i've seen grizzlies in person, you don't want to underpack. They run faster than an ATV, and they climb just as fast.
