Hello /out/doorsmen,
is anyone here experienced with techniques for getting a fire going using paint?
My uncle (ex army survival instructor) and me used to do it on camping trips, but I had completely forgotten about it until just recently. He'd always carry a small paint bucket in his backpack. To light a fire he'd chop down a tree and pour the paint over the stub, light it, and then chop up the rest of the tree while it was really catching on fire. To supply the fire with more firewood you simply leaned it against the stub.
Anyway, this was back when stores were still selling led paint, so it's possible modern paint doesn't have the same effect.
Would it still be safe to do this?
