My calendula is going to seed like pic related.
Should i save only the plumpest heads that are starting to drop their seeds, or save them a little earlier?
I like this particular plant: it was the only one out of its flat to germinate in some pretty bad conditions and it flowers explosively so it seems like it has good genetics for seed saving.
I usually dry seed heads pegged to the line or on a piece of shadecloth in the sun for a week so they're dry and ripe, will this work for calendula?
I also have store bought french marigold that I want to save seed from but am not sure if they're a hybrid or not. Is there a way to tell?
