>>1790482>OverdrawOverdrawing any bow is fine so long as it's worked in gradually. I've actually heard modern laminates can handle more than wood or fiberglass alone.
>Youtube bundle bowI'm rooting for dude, but having skill as a woodworker I'm trying my hand at making my own.
Between the Bowyer's Bible and "Ottoman Turkish Bows, Manufacture and Design," I'm bending a couple slabs of black walnut to back with linen. 3 piece construction, with pyramid limbs to make up for the weakness of using boards. If nothing else, it'll make a very pretty target bow. Later on, I'll try sinew, and someday horn.
Related; initial attempt, broke the form because it was too thick. Took the siyahs down to width, and the limbs near thickness for a second try Sunday.
By the way, has anybody American tried to source horn domestically? I read something about sheep's being easy to work, but don't know what breeds to ask after. Or at what size modern farmers remove the horns.
Cow's horn supposedly comes apart internally, and I don't know how long a goat's horn is, untwisted.
>>1789730Composite bows are horn-wood-sinew, with symmetrical grip and static recurves. Are you thinking of compound? Can't hold 40# by yourself?
