At that price point and that planned use I think that sage is a pretty good call.. it might be worth getting something like a Redington behemoth or something similarly and a couple spools to get you even more versatile. Like, instead of being stuck with just a floating line, you can have a general purpose floating line, then have an aggressive sinking line if you want to throw meat or get down deep, and maybe something like a wulff triangle for if you wind up throwing dry flies for trout. I mean, trout, bass, bluegill, you don't need a crazy drag for those. Your reel is just to store your extra line. I'm gonna caviat this with my most expensive combo is $500 and I don't plan on spending more than that on a combo unless it's something like a big game saltwater setup.
