I love mine to death, but it was a motherfucker training him as a puppy, he was very hard headed and pissed and shit everywhere for like 8 or 9 months.
They are also very prone to dip displaysia and now as he's getting older he is almost entirely blind. Still a good dog, but unless you are willing to walk them for a long time every day and have a nice wide open space for them to run around and be unsupervised then they probably won't do well.
He was a great hiking dog and could go all day and just keep going, they have crazy endurance
I feel kind of bad I never got to train him or use him for any real herding, they are made for it..
Also to note, I know it varies a lot from dog to dog, but he never liked children. Any time there was a child or children he would try to herd them and nip their heels. Parents don't usually like that. They will also try to herd anything in a group, mine likes to herd chickens.
