Back at it with the LRS today. Maybe you remember my live blog from the last thread... I haven't tried again since then, but the weather was great today so I had another go. The setup was way better this time.
I ditched the cache loops in favor of a microtrax, which was about 100x better. I can effortlessly pull rope into the cache and it feeds right through as I climb. There's less of a guarantee that the gg will lock without an actual knotted cache loop, but it always locked right away whenever the cache ran out so I'm satisfied with it. The only problem I had was with the weight of the anchor rope pulling my cache loop through the gg, which makes it hard to tell how much slack is in the system. I dealt with it by adding a clove hitch to every third qd, but I know there's a hack with rubber bands in the qd that can solve it without taking rope out of the system.
Anyway this time I didn't bail and actually climbed two pitches (5.7-8) which took about 1.5hr. The whole experience was quite smooth!
