Guten tag /out/, I'm in the market for some new footwear, can anyone please suggest a make/model of hiking boots, preferably <£150, that's fairly rugged and with decent waterproofing? Mainly for use in N wales, so will mostly be contending with boggy, hilly terrain.

Some people don't want flexibility in their boots, due to the terrain they're mostly in. Although that's more influenced by the shank stiffness and length than the upper material.

Boots are hard to recommend generally because people have differently shaped feet. Its better to go to a large store like REI and try on a few pairs to see what fits comfortably. Make sure to walk on slopes; you don't want boots where your toes bang against the tip every time you go downhill. If there's any equipment that you shouldn't buy cheep, it's hiking boots.

Also try buying boots based on your climate. For hotter hikes, you want boots that breath better, but for mountain hikes you want something more sturdy.

These are the boots I use, Asolo TPS 520.

Asolo's like your pic, are fucking incredible.

I got the tps Asolo's awhile ago, and after alot of intense hiking (including traversing through rivers and such) i will NEVER buy another boot.

They feel like and extension of your feet, and i would often leave them on instead of changing into my camp shoes when we made camp, they are just that comfy.
