I'm almost done with this barrel planter. I decided to do it differently than most online ones. I decided to add drain holes instead of a water catcher. I don't want to be concentrating salts by constantly recycling the same water through the barrel. That means I don't need to attach the center pipe. I can simply rest inside the hole since it doesn't need to be caulked to prevent leaks. I added treated lumber skids too. The cap on the bottom of the pipe is held on by a single nail and is easily removable.
Now to just get it filled the rest of the way, plant in it, and start tossing in kitchen scrapes down the pipe.
