>>2288755I'm not saying living like that would be nice, I would try to design cities in a way that makes it as nice as possible, but it's not going to be a good way to live for everyone, I don't think I'd want it either. But the reality is we have a rising global population and continuing the suburban way of life that so many countries (particularly western ones) have now where everyone wants a big house with their own backyard and a driveway will require so much more land development than putting people in apartments.
Short of putting in actual government-mandated population control policies in (and who knows what kind of backlash that would cause as well), putting an end to urban sprawl is something we might just need to do to protect natural and agricultural land.
