I went for a wander here last week
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBeMSzbk6Rothere are oddities on nearby beaches, things like million-year-old footprints/stone tools (
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/science-news/10623660/900000-year-old-footprints-of-earliest-northern-Europeans-discovered.html for example) lots of fossils, and some rich toff guy who, even though you'll be nicked in the uk for walking around with a screwdriver, walks around the place without a care in the world, carrying a shotgun.
other-worldly as fuck. found an ammonite (sp?) in the cliffs, found bits of old houses on the beach which had fallen over the centuries from the rapidly-eroding cliff edge, got spooked by skellingtuns at the church which was torn apart by locals hundreds of years ago, saw a tree which had turned completely white - totally dead for years and years - now sat awkwardly in the sand like some kinda ghost, was randomly followed around by a pig, saw some seals, met a guy who showed me a fuckhuge piece of rock which to him was apparently interesting... can't remember what it was called now, puddingstone...? apparently the only way it could have got here was to float over on an iceberg. the thing must have weighed 2 tonnes. allsorts. pretty nice place, and quiet as all hell because there's a walk to get to the beach, and you need a car to get to it, but there's only enough parking for 3 cars for miles in all directions.
